1. sift the flour, salt, and baking powder into a bowl, then stir in the ground almonds. Add the butter, rubbing it in until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the sultanas. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the milk and almond extract.
2. Turn the dough on to a floured surface and knead gently until smooth. Roll out to a thickness if 1 cm and cut into rounds with a 5 cm cutter. Place the scones on a lightly greased baking sheet and brush the tops gently with milk.
3. Bake the scones in a preheated oven, 200 C for 7 - 10 minutes, or until they are will risen, and golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
